Iona Village Hall costs over £6,000 a year to run.
This breaks down roughly as:
Insurance | £2,500 |
General Maintenance | £1,500 |
Electricity & Heating | £900 |
Cleaning | £600 |
Health & Safety Inspections, Licences etc. | £1,000 |
Total | £6,500 |
All of this has to be raised though hire fees and fundraising – we don’t recieve any funding towards running costs.
The Committee will always try to keep charges to a minumum but we’d love to cover costs and have something left over for improvements.
Since March 2010, we have secured grants totalling £13,000 from Big Lottery Awards For All, Argyll & Bute Council, The Russell Trust and The Co-operative Community Fund towards new heating, drainage, sound and lighting equipment, ceiling tiles, storage and safety measures.
Closer to home we have also had generous support from Iona Community Council, Iona Golf Committee, Iona Ladies Group and individuals through numerous fundraising events and effort. We continue to seek out new fundraising opportunities to improve and sustain the Village Hall for all.
If you shop online you can raise money for the hall, by registering at www.easyfundraising.org.uk. It’s simple and free to do and includes the likes of Amazon, John Lewis and Marks & Spencer. 2-3% of what you spend will be donated at no cost to you and it all adds up!
